This time we talked to Mr. H, the motion designer~!
What kind of work do you do?
I am a motion designer for ” Pokecolo Twin “.
Among them, I am mainly in charge of animation of items, characters, etc.
In many cases, we are commissioned by item designers to produce them.
What is your average daily schedule like?
It will generally look something like this. Regular morning meetings are mainly for item designers and motion designers. In the afternoon, there are sometimes two general meetings a day.
Please tell us about each of the most rewarding and difficult aspects!
The rewarding part is when we receive happy comments and reactions from our customers and when the designer who commissioned the motion is pleased.
The hard part is …… many things, but first of all, it is difficult to handle the tools, and it is essential to be willing to learn on your own. Then there is the difficulty of having to pay attention to detailed checks and corrections, as the slightest mistake can be fatal when finally reflected in the application.
What do you value in your work?
Schedule management is very important, of course, but we also place importance on whether we are creating items in line with the intentions of the item designer, and on creating items with an awareness of what will please the customer’s perspective.
I also do research on social networking sites to find out what points customers are most likely to look at, what kind of animation would make them happy and where, and I also try to incorporate the latest trends.
What was the most impressive production you have worked on so far?
Is it “Idol Pants” from ” Pokecolo “? Actually, I was deeply involved in the production of ” Action Pants ” from the initial proposal stage, and since it was the first work, I have a strong emotional attachment to it.
Originally, there were items that could change actions when worn, but I thought that the limitation of one movement per item was a drawback, and that was the impetus for the creation of Action Pants. We created this item with the aim of further evolving the already existing functionality, and to change the entire personality of the colonian in an instant.
The creator of Action Pants was Mr. H. ……!
I think the “pants ” is a very interesting point, what was the reason for this shape?
That’s right. I chose pants because they are the part of clothing that is worn at the bottom and is usually invisible, so I thought it would be nice if they did not interfere with fashion itself.
Since the initial impetus for this project was ” increase the degree of freedom, it was designed in such a way that it would not affect the impression of the colony or colonizer itself more than necessary “
Please tell us about how you feel you have grown since you joined the company!
I was the first new graduate to join Cocone, so unlike the current new graduate members, I did not have any peers.
Instead, I grew up watching the backs of my seniors in a completely different environment than when I was a student ” where there were many seniors who were incredibly skilled ” I think my current growth in terms of technique has been made possible by the repetition of the cycle of watching and imitating those whom I aim for, and sometimes receiving direct instruction from them (……).
I think I have grown in areas other than technology, such as being able to have a broader perspective that allows me to care about the people around me instead of focusing solely on my own work. When I sense that a member of the team is having trouble or a problem arises, I am now able to identify it and take action to solve it.
Cocone places great importance on “sensitivity.” What does “sensitivity” mean to you?
It is a difficult question to answer! It is difficult to find an answer, but I feel that it is something that must always be cultivated “
Each individual’s “sensitivity” is a reflection of what they have seen, thought, and become as a person in their lives, and I am sure that it is completely different when they are in their teens than when they are in their 20s.
Therefore, I would like to be aware of it as something that is constantly changing its form depending on my own mindset, and I would like to never neglect to actively cultivate it by receiving various stimuli.
