1. Introduction

Hello everyone.
My name is Sake, a recruitment and public relations intern at Cocone Corporation.

Cocone's gym has been renovated! We talked to the person in charge!

I went to the dentist the other day and found out that I have four wisdom teeth.
He made the worst gag ever ” “If you’ve got so many growths, you already know your parents, don’t you?

1. Introduction

Well, the season is spring. Spring is the season of change.

In my oral regards, I am sure many of you are changing to a new environment.

Many new employees joined Cocone on April 1,
In fact, another major change is taking place at Cocone.

It’s…

The Cocone gym is reopening!

The Cocone gym is reopening!

In fact, Cocone’s gym has been mentioned several times in this article,
Last year, in December of 2021, the operation was temporarily suspended.

And this year, in May of 2022, it will resume in earnest!

The Cocone gym is reopening!

The pre-opening was held just last month on March 18,
Currently, as of April 2022, Cocone’s gym is undergoing a complete renovation.

What exactly will the new gym in Cocone be like?
I am wondering what the heck the pre-opening is all about.

The Cocone gym is reopening!

So, this time, I’d like to introduce you to the gym, which is currently pre-opening and
About the reality of the newly starting Cocone gym,
We spoke in detail with the person in charge of the renewal of the Coconnex gym!

Cocone’s gym, which will be experienced by those who will be joining Cocone.
What kind of renewal has been achieved? It’s a big investigation!

2. Interview

This time we spoke to this person.

Haruya Kohiruimaki

Haruya Kohiruimaki

Position: Wellness Human Resources
Favorite food: meat, sushi and octopus balls

Sake:
I see you eat sushi and such!
I had an image that trainers don’t eat carbohydrates like rice or octopus balls…”

Kohikumaki:
I think my definition of health is “to be able to keep going for the rest of my life,” as is the case with those who train pretty stoically. I don’t think it’s realistic to be like living on broccoli and chicken only for the rest of my life….

When I make takoyaki at home, I am a pretty good eater, so I eat 50 takoyaki by myself.

Haruya Kohiruimaki

I believe the healthiest way to eat what you like is to exercise.
And I think that’s why it’s so important to build on that every day.”

We will start our interview with Mr. Kohfumi who loves takoyaki!

Q1: Cocone’s Wellness has been renewed.

>Q1: Cocone's Wellness has been renewed.

Kohikumaki:
I think that the way Cocone’s wellness program has been presented in the past has had a strong nuance of “let’s exercise to get fit and healthy.

However, in the future, Cocone’s Wellness program is designed to help people achieve a state of Well-Being, which is defined as not only being in good health, but also being “truly” healthy and lively.

For example, we have yoga classes, monthly seminars on nutrition, sleep, and other topics with lecturers, and we are currently thinking of a Cocone Health Center. We are also thinking of a Cocone Health Center! or if you are feeling a little down today, you can feel free to ask for advice. Our goal is to create a space where people can supplement their mental and physical health in both ways.

>Q1: Cocone's Wellness has been renewed.

In other words, in the future, Cocone’s Wellness will approach other things besides exercise, such as nutrition and sleep. Health comes first is the same, but the approach is different.

It’s about expanding the path to health, or rather, expanding the realm of health.
I think that’s a big change in this renewal.”

Q2: Why is Wellness being renewed now?

Q2: Why is Wellness being renewed now?

Kohikumaki:
I think that to some extent the members of Cocone have become aware of the fitness aspect of exercise and physical health through our efforts to date. But now that such a base has been established, I think it needs to be diversified.

As is the case when looking at the fitness industry, there are more and more specialized gyms nowadays, and the importance is how well they can meet the diversifying needs of their customers.

Of course, the same is true of Cocone, and I think there are people who don’t like or dislike exercise, especially at Cocone. That’s why we decided to renew the site so that we can offer a way of health that is not just about fitness, in a way that better suits everyone.

Q3: Mr. Koburamaki, you have the unusual position “” Wellness Personnel.

Q3: Mr. Koburamaki, you have the unusual position "" Wellness Personnel.

Sake:
I was really curious about what Mr. Obirimaki does…”

Kohikumaki:
I think ” wellness personnel” is a term you don’t hear in the first place, and if it weren’t for Cocone, it probably wouldn’t be a common position.

Simply put, this job is to think seriously about what we should do to make our members health ier. My main job is to think about how we can make our members healthier, whether it is recruiting instructors and trainers, coming up with a concept that will guide the operation of the gym, or planning the annual seminar schedule. As the most recent of these duties, I am now mainly responsible for the renewal of the gym.

Q3: Mr. Koburamaki, you have the unusual position "" Wellness Personnel.

Kohikumaki:
Until now, we have had trainers, called wellness trainers, who were hired directly by the company to provide exercise instruction, studio lessons, and other services. However, I think the newly created position of ” Wellness Personnel ” will look at employees and trainers from a personnel perspective and consider what kind of approach would make everyone healthier.

If up until now I’ve been more of a mentor, actually leading people to health in the gym, I think I’m more like the one who creates the environment for people to get healthy.”

Sake:
I see! Easy to understand.”

Kohikumaki:
“Is it easy to understand, thank goodness lol.”

Q4. You have taken on the big job of renewing Cocone’s gym. What were some of the challenges you faced and how did you feel about them?]

Q4. You have taken on the big job of renewing Cocone's gym. What were some of the challenges you faced and how did you feel about them?]

Kohikumaki:
We have not yet completed the reopening itself, but at this point, I would say that finding issues from the past management system, verbalizing them, and thinking about how to resolve them was a very important part of the project.

In the end, I think the biggest failure of renewal is to have people think that nothing has changed after the renewal.

That is why we need to be able to verbalize and communicate what everyone is looking for, what we have done wrong in the past, and what needs to be changed, otherwise we will not be able to communicate this to everyone, and if we cannot communicate this properly to those who will be hired in the future, we will be out of sync again.

Q5: I understand that you have been in the fitness industry. Did you feel any gaps in your current responsibilities?

Q5: I understand that you have been in the fitness industry. Did you feel any gaps in your current responsibilities?

Kohikumaki:
I’ve been in the fitness industry for about 12 years, started working for Central Sports when I was 20, and then managed a personal gym for about 3 years.

When I was in the fitness field, I thought that more people would be happier if there were a lot of people who thought the same way as I did, rather than me working hard on my own. If I were to give lessons alone in a studio, I would only be able to satisfy about 50 people, but if there were 10 instructors or trainers who had the same kind of thinking, it would spread to 500 people, and I thought that by doing so, I could increase happiness.

I wanted to do management and recruiting to build the organization, so I didn’t have any trouble there at all.

Q6: Tell us about the pre-opening.

Q6: Tell us about the pre-opening.

Kohikumaki:
There are three main features of the pre-opening: one is power yoga, another is a sleep program, and the other is boxing.

I chose Power Yoga because Pilates had been very popular in the past, and I thought it would be difficult for people to do strenuous exercise after a long absence from the gym, so I chose something relaxing with a training component.

Q6: Tell us about the pre-opening.

As for the sleep program, we do a survey once a month at Cocone, and many people in the survey said they were having trouble with sleep quality, so we introduced the program because we thought that improving it would improve everyone’s performance. I am very much looking forward to the popular seminar we are going to hold in April in collaboration with Tipness.

Boxing was purely because there were so many fans within Cocone, lol.”

Q6: Tell us about the pre-opening.

Sake:
I see. Am I correct in assuming that these are the only three lessons during the pre-opening? By the way, will these remain after the grand opening?”

Kohikumaki:
Yes, during the pre-opening, we are doing these three mainstays in addition to individual use of the gym. After the grand opening, we plan to remain as a studio lesson.

We are planning to add more studio training programs, and we think it would be interesting to offer hip-hop dance lessons. We also hope to heat up the studio for hot yoga, and do things like boxing in the dark, and we’ d really like to add a wide range of content.

Q7: How do you feel about the pre-opening?

Q7: How do you feel about the pre-opening?

Kohikumaki:
When we talked to those who participated in the pre-opening, most of them said that they had been in the habit of exercising until December, but that they had not exercised at all during the gym’s renewal period. I realized that I had reset my habits there, and that the hurdle to making a new habit was very high.

It is quite difficult to make a new habit after losing the habit of exercising. Continuation is the hardest part. But if you don’t continue, you’ll never get close to good health.

It is very important to move little by little, but it is very difficult to start from scratch because some people are busy and cannot make it in time, and some people are not good at exercising in the first place.

Based on this premise, I feel that it is an important issue to think about how to quickly create a trigger and how to continue from that trigger.”

Q8. I understand that you will be opening in May.

Q8. I understand that you will be opening in May.

Kohikumaki:
We will basically remain the same as we have been in the past. Our staff will be on hand at all times, so people can come to the gym whenever they want, and if they have any questions about exercise, we will be happy to answer them. We also plan to offer studio lessons on a regular basis.K

One difference is that we are planning to hold at least one event every month, and in addition to the sleep seminar in April, I personally think it would be interesting to invite famous YouTubers and Instagrammers in the fields of Pilates and yoga to speak at seminars on health checkup results, mindfulness, and so on. I personally think it would be interesting to invite famous YouTubers and Instagrammers in the fields of Pilates and yoga to speak at the seminar.

I thought it would be nice if that kind of thing could spark a little interest in everyone. So, apart from the regular ones, we are going to have such an event once a month, and that is where the structure will change.”

Sake:
During the pre-opening period, there are no trainers on site, but will they be there once the center is fully open?

Kohikumaki:
Yes, that’s right. But now that the number of remote workers is increasing, we are thinking of assigning staff members according to the number of days they work and their attendance rate. The way we work is changing so much right now, and I feel that we should consider the best and most effective way to adapt to this change.”

Q9: Previously, studio lessons were free and personal lessons were by reservation only.

Q9: Previously, studio lessons were free and personal lessons were by reservation only.

Kohikumaki:
I think that by making reservations, people will register their schedules to come to the gym, and I think that this will be one step that leads to continuous action. Even if you plan to go when you are free, if you are not free, you will not go after all, and I think there is almost no free time when you are working.

I believe that how much time you can make for yourself is also very important to keep something going, so this is the way I do it now.

But if there are a lot of comments about how hard it is to make reservations, I’m thinking that group lessons, for example, wouldn’t have to be by appointment only.”

Q10: Up until last year, Wellness led sports days and other events.

Kohikumaki:
It would be nice to have it. It would definitely be fun.

Sake:
What? Oh! I see, you don’t know?”

Q10: Up until last year, Wellness led sports days and other events.

Kohikumaki:
I don’t know! I’ve been here since January.
I don’t know anything about last year’s efforts, so I’d love to learn more about these things.”

Sake:
“Oh, well, I’m publishing an article…”

much

Sake:
This way, if you like.

Obiramaki :
Oh, thank you.”

Q11. What are your future goals?

Q11. What are your future goals?

Kohikumaki:
Well-being” is a popular keyword for the year 2022, and it is often mentioned in the media. I think that Cocone has always been a company that has promoted wellbeing compared to other companies, but I feel that it has not yet fully taken root. I would like to make sure that Cocone’s unique wellbeing is realized as a future goal.

I think Cocone originally had the philosophy of ” come to our office to be healthy, ” and that is why we built a gym and a deli to create an environment for exercise and diet. But I believe that exercise is just one tool to get healthy, and we should work on other areas as well. I think that’s what I’m doing this time around as Wellness HR, and that’s one of the goals I hope to accomplish.”

Q12.

Q12.

Kohikumaki:
The exercise is not hard!

It is very important to have fun while doing something. If you go to a gym, you may think it looks tough because of all the machines, but it doesn’t have to be like that. I would be very happy if visiting a gym becomes a habit, starting with a casual visit to a gym and a chat with a trainer.

I would be happy if you could come casually, like going to a gym to have a good talk, and I would like to create such a place.
Thank you!
